I had the pleasure of meditating and spending time with Lama Tenzin Choegyal~ he is a sweet soul! Lama is a Humanitarian Hall of Fame monk and his life’s work is the heroic effort of rescuing children from the Dolpo region of the Himalaya Mountains. My life has been blessed!
So, I am spending the morning making a tea for my new friend to drink on his travels. It is a green tea with roses, coconut and cinnamon. The cinnamon is a stimulant, antiseptic, astringent, anti-fungal, and anti-viral.
- Cinnamon has the highest antioxidant strength of all the food sources and is several hundred timess more potent than any fruit or vegetable. Cinnamon is a great source of vitamins A and B-complex and minerals such as chromium, iron, zinc, and calcium. It is particularly good for helping diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, flatulence, and arthritis. Cinnamon is known to help prevent and shorten the duration of the flu as well to eliminate congestion and mucus from the body. It is also very beneficial for lowering cholesterol and to help regulate blood sugar. It is known to help increase circulation and contains anti-clotting compounds which makes it highly beneficial for helping to prevent strokes and coronary artery disease. Cinnamon contains anti-bacterial properties that kill microorganisms such as staph, botulism, aflatoxin mold, E. coli, and cold and flu germs. It is also very good for reducing inflammation in the body making it helpful for autoimmune disorders such as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Cinnamon also has the amazing ability to stop yeast infections, candida, and menstrual cramps. It is commonly used in gum and dental treatments due to its pain relieving and antiseptic properties. Cinnamon helps to boost memory and cognitive function, just smelling cinnamon spice or its essential oil can help make you more alert and focused. Contraindicated during pregnancy.
- Cinnamon can be found in leaves, bark and oil form online or at your local health food store.. Cinnamon oil is also one of the most antimicrobial essential oils and is a potent disinfectant around the home and office but should not be ingested. Consume according to individual taste, Caps: 1,500 mg cap, 2-4x per day, before meals; tea 3-9 grams, 1/3 or less of formula (don’t use alone); tincture: 20-30 drops, 3x per day
