One of the oldest and time tested remedies for treating low hemoglobin and healing digestion problems is eating warm broths. Bone broths are extraordinarily rich in protein, and can be a source of minerals as well. Bone broths are also rich in gelatin which may support skin health.  Gelatin also supports digestive health. Chicken broth also helps ease the side effects of colds, flus and upper respiratory infection.

Bone Broth

1 free range chicken (you can substitute grass fed short ribs or white fish with the bones)

1 teaspoon ghee (clarified butter)20141210-Jennifer- whole Foods-124830

9 dates

1/2 teaspoons fresh turmeric

3 garlic cloves

Combine all ingredients into a large pot. Once the broth is boiling, cut heat to low for 10-12 hours. Eat dates and drink broth or use it as the base for rice, soup, sauces. Personally, I like to add carrots, jicama and celery to a large cup of the broth and let them simmer for 10 minutes to soften.
